The Team Behind Ranch 999
Ranch 999 is run by the husband and wife team, Jérôme Bisaillon and Teresa Laudenbach. Jérôme and Teresa have the unlikely good fortune of having found a partner in each other, who is equally passionate about horses, and who agrees in partnership over domination in their approach to horses. They pride themselves on caring for and handling horses in a way that is effective and welfare-focused, based on a rational, science-backed approach that can be explained and shared with everyone. Jérôme and Teresa have brought together their diverse skillsets and backgrounds in order to create a dynamic and creative vision for Ranch 999.
Jérôme grew up on the Ranch 999 property, riding, driving, and training the Belgian horses his father bred. As a young man, his love of horses took him to Western Canada where he worked as a riding guide in Alberta and British Columbia. He quickly developed a reputation for being able to ride any horse and for finding the ranch’s old, forgotten trails. It was during this time that Jérôme set himself apart in colt starting and rehabilitating “problem” horses before moving back to Eastern Canada where he developed his ability to train horses for the western disciplines. In the winter of 2020-2021, he worked with renowned horse trainer, Jason White, and solidified his ethical and effective approach to starting and restarting horses.
Teresa grew up an animal lover, taking jumper lessons throughout her childhood. Her love of horses also brought her to Western Canada, where she worked as a guide in Alberta and British Columbia and eventually Chilean Patagonia. It was during this time that she fell in love with horse training, honing her skills in the round pen before striking out on the trails with her freshly started horse. Returning to Eastern Canada, she traded her cowboy hat and shotgun chaps for dressage boots and breeches. Her new passion for dressage eventually brought her to Spain where she completed a summer-long apprenticeship at a Classical Dressage stud and fell in love with the Lusitano breed. Teresa now combines her understanding of natural horsemanship with her education in Classical Dressage to train versatile, confident horses.
